WOMEN’S HEALTH AWARENERS & CARE

In India, women’s health is not an openly discussed topic. Always putting others first, Indian Women tend to always put their families first. In some cases, it might even be considered taboo to talk about health irregularities connected to women. This often comes at the cost of their own health. Signs and symptoms of conditions chronic disease are ignored and passed off as just tiredness. As a result, chronic diseases including cancer, are detected late and thereby posing several challenges in treatability. This needs to change immediately!
Women represent the cornerstone of a family’s overall health. Enhancing and ensuring health awareness in women can lead to improved health for children and families. There are no second thoughts, “Women’s Wellness should not be neglected at any cost”.
This awareness & prevention session is brought to you by Rotaract club of Bangalore Indira Nagar and Mitra CanCare Foundation. The session will cover the topmost common health and wellness issues in women and bring them to light so that more women are aware of their health risks, take preventive steps accordingly.
The month of October is observed as Breast Cancer Awareness month with the goal to enhance awareness of breast cancer and educate people about risk factors.

MITRA CANCARE FOUNDATION
Mitra CanCare Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, (registered as Section 8 company) chartered with the mission to “prevent cancer through awareness” and provide “comprehensive cancer care as a professional service”. Apart from providing professional cancer care and support services, Mitra CanCare Foundation has conducted several awareness programs and initiatives and has been majorly involved in raising funds to provide financial aid and support to needy childhood cancer patients.

DR SOUMYA HOLLA
Dr. Soumya Holla is a Senior Breast Cancer Surgeon from Bangalore in practice for the last decade. She is an expert in screening, diagnosis, counselling and holistic treatment. She is passionate about creating awareness amongst all members in the society to enable early diagnosis and improved cure rates.
Dr Holla worked in multi-speciality hospitals for a decade. She is an expert in Breast Conservation Surgery which give better cosmoses and results. This includes lumpectomies, nipple sparing surgeries and Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsies. She has performed over 1000 surgeries for breast cancer until date. She firmly believes that each patient’s treatment should be individualised, and tailor made and is par with international standards.
With several years of experience under her wing, she has started Karnataka’s first dedicated breast cancer hospital, a specialised boutique breast cancer centre called Holla Breast Centre. Situated in the heart of the capital city, it offers patients an all-round holistic approach for breast cancer. Dr Soumya is a member of the Mitra CanCare Medical Advisory Council.
